A friend has (grudgingly) given me some of his salsify seeds to grow.
They are his favourite veggies by far so I am lucky to have prised some out of his hand.
He says they are like asparagus only better. Don’t thing I ever tried them yet.
His crop is under attack by slugs, snails and even mice. He is being vigilant about getting rid of these without using chemicals, mostly waging war at early morning after leaving upturned empty grapefruit or orange halves on the ground, so the slugs retreat there for a sleep and an early morning demise. He even leaves one of the discarded lower cabage leaveson the ground so that after eating it, they sleep under it, only to awake to their demise.
Just wondered with all the experience on this board if anyone has anything to add which may help him deter these pests from his highly prized crop?
Thanks all
Julie
