Thank you Charles, what a delight to hear from you! I sowed the garlic in November. We have had two years now of uncharacteristically wet springs and winters (if you can even call it winter!) considering we’re in the “dry” east. The manure is ver well rotted and I have been assured of its uncontamination with aminopyralids as it’s been used by a friend for several years with no ill effects.

What I’m really concerned about is mineral imbalances having read alot about how difficult it is to obtain sufficient magnesium, iodine etc in our diet. I understand this probably largely refers to the depleted soils of artificial inputs but suspect that my brassicas and alliums seem to have grown better before all the applications of compost….This is made up of garden greens, kitchen scraps and organic straw/chicken poo from our organically fed chickens…
