Harvest continues to be great. We’ve now harvested 15lb and are looking at potential for up to 50lb in total from 2 five metre rows. Only problem is that we’d like to prepare the ground for this years potatoes but there’s still loads of parsnips in the ground! Are there any reliable ways of storing parsnips if you pull them out of the ground?? Under sand????
One thing of interest is that the end of the rows were relatively lacking in sunshine as it was right in line with one of our apple trees to the south, so they only get 4hrs direct sunshine in moring/early evening. The size of the parsnips at the least sunny spot were still superb.
It may therefore be the case that parsnips, at least in no-dig, composted soil can do reasonably well even in relatively shaded areas. First early potatoes seemed to have a similar property also.
