Not to contradict Charles in any way, but the most important thing to note from his reply is to “ask your neighbors”. Not just about when but also what and how. Visit local Garden Centres and browse the Seed shelves and note what they have on offer.
Seek advise from “locals” not just “expats”.
I have friends in the Canary Islands who tried to do as you plan to and they spent 2-3 frustrating years trying to grow as they would here in Ireland. They eventually got friendly with a local canarian vegetable grower who put them on the right track and now 5 years later they are self sufficient for 10 months of the year from a site of a little over half an acre.
