Well it was a nice day after all – the first day with some proper spring sunshine. Today was even better, although we are not getting the 20C that Scotland, South Wales and parts of the West Country have had.
It’s interesting comparing last year’s photos with this season’s progression – by my reckoning we are about 1 month behind last year when measured by the progression of the comfrey plants and the rhubarb. Last year I was cutting comfrey leaves to put in with 1st early potatoes in the first week of April. No chance this year! The broad beans had to be resown in spring as many failed in the autumn and nearly a month after sowing they are now coming through. No sign of any asparagus yet either.
