You could either dig in a four by one inch strip of wood – but that is quite expensive and demanding to do – or mulch the edges with cardboard/polythene as a surface barrier, a kind of no man’s land between the couch edge and your plot.
If possible, regular and close mowing of weedy edges is good to reduce their vigour, so they invade less.
