Actually, Tamar Organics shipping costs are pretty minimal so it’s a legitimate possibility for me.
I”m trying out Klasmann-Deilman professional compost right now – I”ve used it for making soil blocks (currently testing with sweetcorn seeds and Ishikawa salad onion clumps) and for potting on onions for competition.
Really, what I want is a bomb proof compost for leeks, onions and shallots from seed. Lettuce, tomato, celery seem to do fine on the traditional John Innes fertilisers, but neither garden centre MPCs nor JI seem to do so well with onions or leeks where I am based (you can tell they are lacking when a seaweed feed sees them shoot forwards in terms of generating true leaves and standing up vertically).
As I can get 50 litres of JI for under £10 locally, I only really want to spend more where it’s really needed.
