Real Seeds have been great for: parsnip, leek, sweetcorn, onion, shallot, Sicilian Radish. I have some more I’m just sowing now and will sow later in the year too.

Victoriana Nursery have given good seeds for peas, herbs and Black Krim tomatoes.
Seeds from Italy have given great seeds for lettuce and courgette. I’m also trying their carrots.

Garlic cloves I’ve got from the Garlic Farm, but I’m gradually keeping my own and they seem to work well.
I’ve saved tomato seeds for myself for most of my strains and they get better with each passing year.
Ishikura Onions from Quick Crop have been a revelation – they grew brilliantly in soil blocks and I’m just germinating the second packet now.
A few things I’ve been using bog standard ‘big company’ packets: chard, runner bean, cobra climbing bean, Bedfordshire Champion onion.
Early potatoes I sourced from JBA but I kept my own Desiree and Sarpo Mira main crop from last year and they have germinated beautifully this year. We’ll see how they get on at season’s end.
I buy a few strains for competition from Medwyn’s of Anglesey – the odd tomato strain, Sweet Candle Carrot, Hurst Greenshaft peas, Guardsman spring onion, I’ve bought Cobra climbing bean from him in the past.
The less I buy from garden centres, the better my crops seem to be…….
