i have a polytunnel on my exposed allotment . i got diffused thermal and found i had no burning problems in extreme heat. make sure its buried 2/ deep and bury the thermal also. i,ve had no bother in 5 years. so good luck. can,t help you with hens p.s you must have 2 doors to get airway through in summer. or you will get all sorts of problems with mould etc. mostly on tomato,s. hope this helps.
