Thank you so kindly for replying to my post. It was quite the treat for me this morning.

“Clearing” makes good sense as a term, but I can’t get as much southern accent on it as using “cropping out.” Haha. I’m glad to know the proper term to search for it in the future. Thank you.

Oddly enough our soil was mostly topsoil brought in last April to which we added a couple of inches of compost and tilled in (before I found out about the no-dig method). It had a poor attempt at corn grown on it before the lettuce, but other than that it hasn’t been turned again, and I would say the top six inches are fairly easy to turn by hand. I plan on putting a couple of inches of compost on top of them by next week for over the winter.

Thank you for showing me that video again. YouTube says that I’ve already seen it, but somehow I overlooked it when going back through your channel to try and find an answer the other day. And by the way, your son does a wonderful job editing and producing your videos.
