I’m not sure how this may work with beetroot, but I often find that seedlings started in deep, open flats often take much longer to dry out than in cell trays. Here in the USA, I was having to water my cabbage seedlings 5-6 times a day in module trays, but in flats it’s more like once a day, quite the improvement. I suppose it’s more soil mass holding on to water. You may give it a try.
