I harvest all second earlies now & most maincrop within two weeks.
I have not come across a second early variety that does not store well, even to the end of winter and more, in cool conditions.
In contrast, when left in the ground potatoes are susceptible to slugs etc.
Plus one can’t plant/sow anything else.
