Sorry about your finger Colin, it makes my back feel less troublesome!
Your beans are tall for December and anythard frosts risk damaging their stems, but less than if they were outside and exposed to all the other weather too. I have not grown such tall beans overwinter and am unsure whether some fleece over is worthwhile: it would reduce light, but mitigate the frosts.
