I have not yet eaten one of the cross-pollinated squash, shall let you know, and mostly I buy seed to be sure, and because I like to grow a range of different varieties.
Personally I would not be interested in a Butternut/Kuri squash as I value Kuri for its earliness, which would likely be diminished.
