Its a tricky one as there is not much time. Also you don’t want overhanging leaves of a preceding veg anywhere near to slug-susceptible bean plants.
After mulling this over, I just planted a row of garlic on either side of where the beans will be. They won’t interfere… we shall see! Over wintered spring onion, planted late September, would be possible too.
