rtj1211, we are sorounded by forest, most of Slovenia is forest so we have natural wind protections, there is quite a lot of wind but it is eaten by the forest. 
I also find out, that once leaves get wet they slime toghether and it’s hard for them to blow away. I do not put any soil with them, just leaves.
