Thank you Charles.
The plot hasn’t been cultivated for a long, long time. I don’t know what kind of soil we have but it’s definitely not clay and it holds moisture quite well. This plot is just part of the kitchen garden. We have 2 acres of arable land at least.
The manure was fresh and moist when delivered. I covered it straight away in June, and we had some very hot days then.
I also have a lot of grass clippings, so I wonder if a layer of manure, some grass clippings and then cover everything with cardboard or plastic is a good idea. I want to get rid of the weeds and grass this way. What do you think? adding some grass clippings as mulch, is it a good idea? Or should I only use a layer of manure?
Many thanks Charles!
