if you want carrots with your salad then generally about 5 to 6 inches of top and have a bit of a scrape around to see if you can see a reasonable size top. If you want bigun’s I thin for salad carrots and leave the ones in between for bigger ones…
My Nantes are currently producing carrots about as fat as my fingers. Just right for salads.
