Never heard of this one but Staroza Gorski is a village in Bulgaria, where winters are cold. We are heading for a cold winter so it is worth a try, they will survive as small plants then grow in April.
I wonder if you sowed your other leeks when it was still frosty in April? if leek seedlings are frosted too much, they think winter has happened and it is time to flower.
