Did my 1st sowing of the year today, 2 trays of red baron onions a tray of various chilli peppers and a pot of parsley. Has anyone else started yet
Not quite but thinking of lettuce, beets and toms soon
Sowed shallot, red and white onion, salad onion and boltardy beets yesterday. Great to get going at last.
They’re on gentle heat in the front room bay windowsill – need to keep the cat off them when they start to come through – he used them as a bed last year!
Will move on to salad leaves next weekend….
I sowed a few peas for shoots on last Sunday’s root day (Thun calendar) and am sowing more of the same seeds on Thursday afternoon (leaf day) to see if there is much difference. For pea shoots, the leaf day should give a better yield.
I sowed three variates of onions for winter storage and celery two days ago.
Soon i will sow peppers, tomatoes and aubergines.I’ve sowed two sets of tomatoes, one in January and a second set on the fruit day a week back. All germinated fantastically and January sowings prospering on windowsill with plenty of true leaves.
Sowed some green pepper and chilli pepper seeds with the February tomatoes and all failed to date. I will leave them 21 days before cremating them.

I assume you are all sowing for planting out into Polytunnels/Greenhouses in 4/5 weeks?
Don.I sowed my first today. Peppers and chillies and just a few early tomatoes in case we get an early spring. Plus a few lettuce and peas for shoots. Which will go in to grow house once growing well – weather permitting of course!
Peppers and chillies came through after 15 days – strange how much slower they are than tomatoes. Ready to transplant early next week.
I think there is quite a variation in peppers rtj1211, I sowed Hungarian black, lemon drop chilli and chocolate sweet peppers on same day Hungarian black were up in 10 days, lemon drop 15 and chocolate not showing after 21 days.
Tomato Latha were up in 7 days
