Hi, I learned about hoticulture when I was volunteering on organic farms in Australia and I recently read ‘How to create a New Vegetable Garden’. I was pleased to find lots of useful information for adjusting to the British climate.
I’m going to build a couple of 4x9ft beds on top of my lawn very shortly out of spare concrete edging which sits on the grass exactly 6 inches high and fill this in with compost. However the surface area I plan to build on is uneven and there may be sections of bed that sit an inch or two higher than the rest.
Is there anything to be concerned about? The grass below seems to drain well so I assume the bed would also?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Regards,
John.
