I’m wondering whether this would have any benefit in stopping slug attack on my Cara potatoes, from which I pulled 10 slugs yesterday evening and another four this morning, all of which were ritually crushed with my shoe heel.
Will the slugs ascend the plants anyway, or would removing the lower branches provide any resistance to this horde of vultures?!
This sounds familiar Rhys, slugs are indeed having a great time under those yellowing leaves. I just harvested some Swift and found slug damage to a few tubers, nice harvest of 1kg/plant.
Removing the decaying leaves at soil level gives less place for slugs to hide by day, I do it with cabbage too.
