Hi everyone, I’m new here and new to vegetable growing too. Moved to France early this year and I’m creating some small veggie plots for next year. I’m hooked on the no dig method and plan to use it from now on. Unfortunately I’ve already dug over an area about 4×2 metres, I thought it was necessary because the garden is almost solid stone, in a very hilly area.
I’m planning to put cardboard and thick compost down but I was wondering if it’s possible to put fresh garden cuttings, ie from tomato plants, spent flowers etc directly onto the soil without composting it and then cover with cardboard and compost?
Also, the vegetable plots are in the middle of my ornamental garden so I would like the area to look attractive as possible. Would something like coco shells be ok for the paths?
