Variety recommendations please
Using Red Cardinal RZ from Tuckers at the mo, and it’s not really doing it for us….thanks!

 Red Cardinal is great from sowings in either February or early August. Sowing in April and May results in early flowering, on all spinach and especially the red varieties.

I am not sowing any more spinach now until late July. Next year see if you can either propagate or buy a few early plants of eg Boa, Mississipi, Toscane – afraid they are all hybrids but they give leaves for a long time, I am picking some beauties at the moment (from March sowing in fact).

Thanks Charles, I’ll try that. Have a few small Boa seedlings on the way as a second sucession so we will see how it goes…and try Red Cardinal later on….

Yes, & spread them about (Chard & Spinach), 1/2 are still where they were.
They were originally planted last summer/autumn. Had some steamed tonight & every night @ the moment. Mind you it started to get v.big in the last few days. (& I gave some away too).
I’ve probably done something wrong, which is why I’ve left some undisturbed.
Some I planted in amongst my strawberries, they are supposed to be good companions, we’ll see.
