Biodigestor Material

Hello I’ve just been given a couple of tractor bucket loads of Biodigester bi product, which I would like to use in my no dig beds. Not sure how this is going to go …. Anyone have any ideas or comments that may help please?

Sounds good, I have never used it, apparently it is lovely compost so I don’t foresee a problem, do keep us posted.

A local farmer has a Biodigester to produce energy from methane produced out of manure/plants/silege, anything that will give off gas when put through the process.  It is shredded up prior to putting into the biodigester and the gas extracted.  The material is then taken out of the biodigester and this is what I have sitting in the yard.  It looks a bit like shredded manure with strawish bits in it.  It doesn’t smell of anything and is quite soft to touch.

The farmer has given it to me and says I can have as much as I would like.  I think he is quite interested in how I get on with it …. so watch this space

I wondered if it would benefit from stacking for a few months or are you planning on spreading it straight on to the surface of your beds ‘as is’? Will be interested to hear how things progress with its use.

I think stacking it would be good, but I need to finish off some beds, was going to do one bed with cardboard, manure and the bio material as a trial.  I have some of last year’s compost I will mix with the rest of the beds.

I may stack some overwinter for next season to use as a top layer of compost.

Hi Charles  The pumkin was Dills Giant – should have been a lot bigger but water was a bit of an issue this year.  Will be trying for alot bigger next year !!!
