Hi-I’ve just watched your video on starting a no dig garden for veg but am a total novice. Even my pot plants die! Please could you recommend which of your books would be best fro a complete starter. I will use the website and forum but really love a book too.
Many thanks – for making me realise that I really have the potential to grow food!

I soggest the Vegetable Course book for sttarting you off.
There are just a few important principles – create clean soil/compost in your plot, sow seeds at the right time , protect plants from pests where necessaty (often its not) and keep on top of weeds.Then be ready to harvest!
Vegetable Course book from Charles is fantastic, i recommend it a lot!
I agree with zuf. The Vegetable Course Book has all the advise you need whether experienced or a complete novice.

I meant to add that you should stick to books by one or two authors only otherwise you will quickly find yourself being totally confused by the conflicting advise propagated by many gardening experts. Gardeners can be a little like Doctors – experts differ and plants die!!
Pick individuals who are gardening in your general area, i.e., the U.K. Advise given for the U.S. or France or even Ireland will/may not be grood advise for your area.
In my own case I refer to Charles’s Books for most things as I’m a convert to the no-dig system but use Klaus Laitenberger for things like sowing dates as I live in Ireland. Apart from the sowing dates and the no-dig system these two authors are broadly in agreement and I don’t get confusing advise – the single biggest thing that puts so many people off gardening.Don.
