Brussels Sprouts.

Hello,

Having grown some Doric F1 sprouts and harvested a good supply for Christmas day, I found that some, even after peeling the outside layer or two, had an odd rotten leaf within them. So they looked perfect and a good size after peeling but then the odd one had this rotten leaf issue. Any idea on what has caused this?

I wonder if it was on the ones from lower down the stem? I find they are often a bit dodgy and from now on the harvest is much cleaner.

Yes Christmas was great here thanks, lots of good veggies to eat as well. Flower sprouts are tasty now as well.

Thanks Charles, I’m afraid I am unsure, as all that were harvested were bungled into the same bucket. Most were sound and very tasty though. Glad you had a good one and I may try flower sprouts in the future. Looking forward to getting the ball rolling in a couple of months time!

hi i have not had a very good harvest from my sprouts up to now i thinkit was too dry for them, some of the later plantings stil have a lot of v small sprouts is it worth leaving them or woud it be better to just compost them all and mulch ready for spring . i am in the lake district
