Hello,
Installed yesterday I am the happy owner of some wonderful new raised beds filled with compost all ready to go. I checked on them this morning and noticed that a cat ,or possibly a fox, had been digging in the night. I couldn’t see evidence of poos, but I don’t want my carefully constructed raised beds to be litter trays for the local cat population!
Would it be a good idea to cover them while they are empty? With plastic sheets? And what about when I have planted them up?

I would lay bird netting over them for now, then cover sowings/plantings with fleece or mesh.Hello Lottie, if it’s of any consolation, I have pheasants, hamsters (the ones that dig over one metre deep tunnels), rabbits, deers and the occasional boar visit my garden. Pheasants are like chickens and make a pot hole in the soil to sit in to regulate their body temperature and so on. Boars are the equivalent of a JCB. Deers leave hoof prints and hide in pumpkin patches pretending that they can’t be seen. Hamsters are like spree shoppers … I have a cat of my own and several neighbours cats pass by too…rarely they pooh but they do keep the other animals that help themselves to various veg at low numbers…
