Can anyone suggest an effective organic method for dealing with the Chafer Grub.
All my Cabbages were felled by these last Autumn. I had used spent Compost from a Strawberry Farm on the Brassica bed and suspect it was infected with the pest.

    Hi Dan
I believe that you can get a nematode that is fond of them. Never tried them and they are quite pricy…..

    Hi bluebell.

I am aware that the same company that produce Nemaslug also do a similar substance for combating the Chafer Grub but as you mention it is quiet expensive. I was wondering if anyone new of an alternative.

    Hi All,

Am I correct in diagnosing this damage to my spring Cabbage as Chafer Grub? As you can see the stem has been chewed to a point. There are no tunnels in the root. I was very careful to protect against the Cabbage Root Fly and applied collars at planting time.
