I will soon experiment with mixture of http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coir and compost for mulch. 1:1. As I understand, it’s mostly about soil protection and there is still plenty micro life and nutrients left in this ratio.
We have organic company providing coir in 4 kg blocks expanding to 70l.
I wonder if any of you have any comments on this?
My only doubt is cost related – same amount of compost can be free or a lot cheaper.I used with great success a mixture of leaf mold and compost, so I am optimistic about this.
Apparently New Horizon compost is composted garden waste and coir.
