Imagine, with all the resources available to the councils along with your composting techniques they could, with some small changes and good management, start producing unrivalled growing mediums that would vastly improve soils up and down the country and possibly make a reasonable profit. It would surely be an improvement on the stuff that you have to pick toothbrushes and the like out of. I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank you for an excellent day course on the 9th oct. I left with so much more than I had arrived with. Also to thank you guys for the meal of your wonderful produce. p.s I forgot the name of your sorrel? Matt.
Hi Matt, it was good to meet and I am pleased you enjoyed the course.
The sorrel is "Buckler leaved". Grows reluctantly from seed, prefers to self seed, or find a bit of root.
As for composting by councils, at least one can say that big strides have been made in the last 15-20 years to make lots of compost, where it was all put into landfill before. Perhaps if it is profitable enough, more materials can be composted: I was looking at the road verges here and am tempted to run the mower out there for a barrowful of greenery, time permitting.
