Should we spread additional compost between harvests? I’d like to follow garlic and onions with various brassicas. The bed had a thick layer of manure and compost last Autumn/Winter. Do I need to add a thin layer of compost before setting out the brassicas or would last year’s mulch last until the end of the year?

Sausage no need for new compost, see FAQ’s no. 28
