Hi Charles
What is your view of composting privet clippings? I have about 30 metres of privet bordering my plot (which is a real nightmare) – so when I cut it all back, it produces a fair heap of clippings. Is this worth composting, if the cuttings are thin and green enough? Some people from the plot advise against it, as they say it is too acidic. I would be interest to know your views.

ChodeWorth composting some at least, add it in stages if possible so other ingredients get mixed with it. I would not see the supposed acidity as a problem, I understand that the acidity of evergreen leaves diminishes after cutting anyway.
