Is everyone in Britain going to be experiencing this weird drop in temperatures for the next few days? It is forecasted to be between 5-15 degrees!
Charles, is it safe for me to plant out my sweetcorn, courgettes, winter squash outdoors and fleeced thickly over? Or should I wait out for the temperatures to get back to normal?
I gather it is ok for me plant my cucumbers in the polytunnel too and fleeced too?
Its normal spring weather, unless your plants are bursting out of their pots I would wait until say Tuesday.
It depends on the exact forecast for your location, here its predicted to be ground frost which could kill courgettes, corn etc. Fleece helps, on hoops is good in this case.
Many of my plants are screaming to be planted out. I have been watering/soaking them in diluted comfrey/nettle solution to feed them as their leaves are starting to turn yellow.
I think I will be fairly lucky and might just escape from any ground frost. I planted out the 2 varieties of sweetcorn and are ready to have them fleeced.
Planted the toms, cucs and paprikas in the polytunnel too. I will just monitor the weather forecast and work from there.
Hope you and everyone else won´t be affected too much by the cooler temperatures.
