Hi Charles, I have just watched your latest upload on youtube. I am wondering about your thoughts on Cross Polinating/ “home saving seeds” of Winter Squash!? Do you save seeds every year, not bothering about cross polinating, and how does it affect flavour and consistency and what other effects does it have? I know Kabocha and Kuri are quite closely related and similar looking – so maybe it is only cosmetic blemishes (!?) . Do you let other varieties within Maxima family mix? Would you save seeds of buttercup and red Kuri grown in the same field? – but would be interesting to have your thoughts on this matter! Thanks!
I have not yet eaten one of the cross-pollinated squash, shall let you know, and mostly I buy seed to be sure, and because I like to grow a range of different varieties.

Maybe you would have a super early red butterCUP crossing Kuri and Butterup! I definitely prefer the buttercup for the taste though and its early too
We ate a KabochaxKuri last night and it was dilicious, with firm textrue and dark orange flesh. This one worked: cross pollinarion happened without any gourds, summer squash or courgette/marrow within 10m.
