Does Mypex still exist?

I have an area of ground about 13m x 2.5m which I plan to use as a herbaceous border next spring, once I have planted a yew hedge along the boundary. For the next year I need something to suppress weeds. Elsewhere in the garden I have used vetch which I am about to dig in, but here I wonder whether a membrane is the best option?

I notice the site mentions Mypex, but it doesn’t seem to exist anymore. What should I use instead, or should I consider something other than a membrane altogether?

I wonder why you cannot find it, for example eBay and Amazon sell it.
The generic term is woven, polypropylene membrane.
Avoid cutting where possible, to avoid the threads detaching.

Thank you very much Charles. When you look at some of those adverts closely it becomes apparent that it is not actually the branded mypex, and I wasn’t sure how important the brand was – ie, is it thicker, tighter, more effective than the unbranded stuff?

I just called http://www.donlow.com/Horticulture/Groundcover/719/MyPex-Groundcover/ the manufacturer. Apparently they haven’t manufactured it for a number of years because they have a minimum “run” which is obviously quite high. I can only assume there are several knock offs now and its effectively killed it.

Therefore the question is, what is a good alternative and how do we know?

I finally went with Yuzet. Branded so I possibly higher quality. Either way, probably not a cheap product, so good enough

I’m just wondering why your not going with the no dig approach, i.e., cover with compost, cardboard/compost?
I was in the same position as yourself with an herbaceous bed a couple of years ago and used Charles’s method.
The results last summer/this spring have been spectacular.
