earthing up leeks

    This yr I’m going to try and blanch my leeks by ‘earthing’ them up by using downpipe when do you suggest the best time to do this. Cheers Ladbrokes 

    P.s. have you planted your leeks out yet

    Hi Ladbrokes, I never tried this and suggest you won’t need to do it until late summer when they are tall enough for leaves to be above the pipe.

    I planted Autumn Mammoth leeks a month ago and Husky for winter a few days ago, all module grown. Leeks want planting asap now.

    I got bandit, Lyon and autumn mammoth in the ground tonight. 70 odd in total I’ll let you know how the downpipe works
