To let you know, I entered 8 classes at the village show today and walked away with 3 firsts, 4 seconds and 1 third.

OK, the potatoes (1st and 3rd) were grown in bags and the tomatoes (2nd) in pots, but the climbing beans (1st), van Rynsburger Onions (1st) and Beetroot (2nd) were grown using no-dig strategies and onions grown in clumps as you have championed here and in your books. The apples (2nd) were also of course no dig, but I don’t think that’s exactly unheard of……

Hopefully enter a round dozen next year and have equal success as the no-dig enters its second full year.

Thanks for all the great tips the past few years – I am really beginning to feel I understand a bit about what is going on in the garden now.

Hooray that is fantastic Rhys, you must be chuffed and thanks for your feedback.
One thing I love in gardening is seeing ways to grow even better plants next year. Weather permitting!

Great job Rhys, something to be proud of I think. I echo what you say about getting a feel for what is happening in the garden and add that, as time passes, it gets easier to think ahead and know what task needs doing next. It’s also reassuring knowing that I can have another attempt on any failures next year!
