Hi Charles. I’ve just got a new allotment plot – I’m not sure whether to cover the couch grass areas and other grass with cardboard right now – or let the welcome frost do some work and cardboard when it gets warmer? Any thoughts? Thank you!

I would cover now, soil organisms do not necessarily like frost, though it kills some slugs.
Whatever, you need to cover the couch grass, which otherwise will grow in, for example, the milder weather now forecast for a while.
