    Hello all

When it comes to curing pumpkins I’ve read that I either need to leave them out in the sun or wash them in a chlorine bleach and water mix. I don’t think the sun is that likely and I don’t like the sound of the latter. What’s the alternative?

    Mateo, and others,
Please please do not believe everything you read, or hear.
There is a lot of nonsense, masquerading as advice. I mean a lot.
Question the source and check their reasons. From my experience, that is poisonous advice! And totally unnecessary.

I keep saying, for squash and pumpkin its about dryness of skin, curing in sun is good if its sunny, otherwise in the warmth of a house up to 25-30C for two weeks.

Thanks, Charles. This why I’m asking here because I know I’ll get another view. The bit about chlorine is one I’ve read now many times on gardening forums. Being that is my first season, I find it hard to know what advice out there is any good!

    Fair point.
Nonetheless, develop a questioning attitude and even if people sound as though they know what they are talking about, be sceptical.
I do not like saying that as I generally trust people and look for best motive, however internet forums in particular attract some interesting types!
Also in gardening there are often easier ways that are overlooked.
