I am harvesting our spinach right at this moment… and I was wondering if you actually pick them like you do with lettuce leaves or do you cut them? I find it a real challenge to pick them as opposed to cutting them. I cut as much of the stem as possible too. Am I on the right track?
Was wondering how you harvest leaf beet and chard too?
I had a fun time picking our salad bed over the weekend… it was very therapeutic!
Pick not cut for longevity of plants.
So I pick large spinach and chard leaves including stalk, also I remove any yellowing leaves to keep plants tidy, with an easy pick next time, and few slugs.
Yes its is therapeutic, feels good and in the long run is not slower than cutting because plants live for longer.
So you spend less time clearing and replanting.
