    Hi Charles,

Thanks for the replays on YouTube I’m now on here so look out lol….

I’m just siting up my second lot of hot composted horse manure mixed with coffee grinds and I’m wondering if you can use it much sooner if it’s composed right? I did some about 2 months ago which pretty much finished I think.

The last picture is the next lot which will be 3 bins instead of one

Wouldn’t let me post first lot of pic

Yes if the manure has turned to dark and mostly fireable compost, after turning a few times usually, you can use it after 6 weeks sometimes. There is no time rule, just quality.
Sorry about the images, it’s saying they are too big, 1MB is good even 600kB works ok.

So this was the first time in using the used coffee grinds layered with the fresh horse manure and I will have to say it has speeded the initial cooking process into gear much sooner. The piles were full to the brim and have already sunken 9″ after just 3 days. Don’t know if you got compost all the time but do you wait until it started to cool them turn of just turn once a week say?

Opinions vary, For specially fast, hot composting we turned every 5-7 days last year, had decent but not fully ripe compost in a month.
Normally only once when heaps are full. Then it’s a six month process.
So there is a spectrum of possibilities.

Thank you. Is it worth hot composting a larger quantity at once then moving it to sit after the hot composting time as I will never get enough to fill as I go. I guess that will age it and let the fungi do it bit and not just the bacteria side
