Charles, something caught my eye in one of your photos for the February post: In the shot of pak choi being nibbled a little by slugs, there is something else growing amongst them – is this garlic?
Whatever it is, is this some kind of interplanting/ growing? I guess the pak choi will be pulled out when running to flower and then you may inter-sow the garlic (or ?) with autumn carrot or similar before harvesting the garlic? Or perhaps it’s something else entirely?!

Well spotted! It is indeed garlic, the pak choi is starting to make a flower bud already, so garlic can soon grow unhindered and I may plant a melon between them in late May, shall see.

Hi Charles. The PSB in the October 2014 update – planted amongst growing carrots, sown around the same time in June? Or something else?
If carrots, is there any concern re: root disturbance of the PSB when harvesting? Interesting combo

Well spotted Tris. It happened because I sowed carrots (29th June) and they either germinated poorly in dry soil, or were eaten off by slugs, so I planted psb as though they were not there, 20 inches (50cm) apart. Then quite a few carrots emerged by late July and I left them to grow, but have been removong older, bottom leaves of psb to allow light around the carrot leaves. We shall see what happens, it should be possible to pull the carrots without too much root disturbance of their neighbours.

I as usual have sown more than I have space to plant and was wondering if I could plant out winter letuce between my elephant Garlic? If not letuce then Land cress perhaps?
You have nothing to lose Bluebell when they are spare plants, I would pick the lettuce for leaves in spring, not let them grow too large. Same for land cress.
I was just planting the other way atound, garlic cloves between outdoor lettuce still cropping, from a July sowing.
