Is this cow manure ready?

Hi Charles I’ve just had a fresh delivery of cow manure this afternoon. Some of it still looks pretty fresh. Would you spread it on now or heap it up to rot down for a bit longer? Thanks a lot James

It’s not fresh, looks fine to spread where you plan to set out larger plants in spring and leave some to compost for later use

That’s great thanks Charles. I’ve shovelled serious amounts of it today despite the heavy rain in Malmesbury. I think I’ll get some more delivered, aerate it by turning it over/ breaking it up and cover it ready for next year/ later in the season to earth up potatoes. Really appreciate your opinion.

Well done and you are so right to do that, thinking ahead.
By next autumn, winter it will be much easier to spread and hoe.
