I grew some Kelsae onions for show last year and was intending continuing to grow them this year to generate seeds.
I obviously forgot all about them as I put them in a cupboard after the shows and when I opened them up this week, they have all sprouted.
If I pot them out this weekend into some compost, will they still grow OK for the second season or have I mucked up by leaving them in storage too long?
I have one I didn’t even remove from last years pot as it was the smallest, so all is not lost, but I was hoping to use the biggest for seed production……..
They will be fine to pot on now. You know that onions are out breeders so you need say 6-8 flowering to have a broad enough gene pool.
