Hello, I’m struggling to find a clear online guide to the labelling requirements for loose leaf salad bags. From our experience with honey labelling it seems to be a minefield of words and font size that must be correct! We’ve just started selling the bags through a local farm shop and hope to add a restaurant next year. We’ve done as Charles guided us on his course and refresh the leaves in fresh rainwater, or mains if fresh is not available, and have included “wash before use” on the label. We have a very simple label stating “loose leaves” “wash before use” and the company name underneath. I’m beginning to think we might need an address, approx 150g, produced in uk etc on it? i’ve been buried in the food standards website all weekend and still find I’m not clear on our obligation as grower/packer vs retailer. Also, are all you small commercial producers registered with the environmental health department too? If so, how do they react to watering with stored rainwater, al fresco prep with a scrubbed water butt and plastic crates for draining? Thanks, in anticipation of wise advice! Loretta
