Hello Charles
I have had to pull my leeks out prematurely due to leek moth caterpillars. Can I compost the leaves ( and caterpillars!)?
Are the leeks you left uncovered and sprayed with B. Thurigiensis still doing well?
Can I plant other alliums in the affected leek bed that is now cleared?
Also I discovered some cabbage moth caterpillars on my red cabbages and also on new kale plantings although they were under mesh.
What could I do to save my brassicas once infested?
Should I remove the mesh or leave it in place?Thank you
Yes my leeks are good.
You can compost all the debris, and plant alliums ther. Moths do not hibernate in soil or compost, they hang from eaves.
For the cabbage your mesh must have had a gap and I would remove it, squash caterpillars.
