Sympathies with bad back Charles log splitting, ive just broken a finger splitting logs, fortunately didn’t have axe in my hand, just big mell hitting wedges, that’s all garden plans out the window till next year, will potter on in tunnel, quick question I planted Broad Bean seeds in raised bed in tunnel there 7 to 8 inches tall, we’ve had frosts almost every day and they haven’t taken any harm will they need any protection as it gets even colder, reading your winter veg book excellent.

Your beans are tall for December and anythard frosts risk damaging their stems, but less than if they were outside and exposed to all the other weather too. I have not grown such tall beans overwinter and am unsure whether some fleece over is worthwhile: it would reduce light, but mitigate the frosts.
