Moorland Gold Peat – How best to use a small amount?

I have managed to obtain a 40 L bag of Moorland Gold peat (expensive!) and wondered how to make the best use of this small amount and also get the best return on the purchase?

I currently have a supply of a cheap multi purpose compost for seed sowing and potting on. Should I use some combination of this and the Moorland Gold peat to create a seed/module compost? Or a potting compost? Or something else?

Any ideas/advice much appreciated.

You could do anything of those ideas. I wonder if you have M.G. peat, or multipurpose compost based on it? I find the latter to have an excellent store of nutrients so adding up to 50% vermiculite or perlite makes a great sowing compost, or add own compost/manure sieved, for growing on.

I have Moorland Gold Peat (not multi purpose). Should I go 50/50 with the proprietary (cheap!) multi purpose compost or would you recommend an addition of vermiculite and/or perlite? Would the same proportion(s) work for both seed and potting on purposes?

Your pure peat has few nutrients, good for sowing, actually needs no additions except something light (perlite etc) helps lettuce & basil (not now!) otherwise use as is, for growing on add whatever nutrients you can find, I can’t give full recipes here, see chapter 9 in How to Create a New Veg Garden for example.
