Hi Charles, I have had my best year for salads in my polytunnel,such a mild winter for us up north, salad have kept going all winter,broad beans, winter cabbage and cauliflower doing excellent,one of my beds is covered in what looks like green moss,it is not affecting growth of plants, I am ventilating the tunnel through the day, very little watering only when needed, how do I control this moss? is it a problem, the bed was not dug just layer of newspapers then 6 inches of compost on top.

Usually it is a symptom of continual surface dampness. It is not harmful but does not look nice and if you prefer not to have it you can scrape the worst of it off to compost, then… water less often, so that the surface dries between each watering. In SW Scotland that means perhaps fortnightly (a good soak) in February, and weekly from about mid March when the sun is stronger. Your compost will hold moisture between watering.
